The Roxwell Governing Body

Clare Milligan (Chair)

Clare started her career in Education in 2007 becoming the Finance and Personnel officer of a primary school in Pitsea.  In 2008 and after gaining the Certificate of School Business Management she moved schools to become a School Business Manager until December 2014 when she left to work for Essex County Council, directly supporting the Executive for Education.  Clare first become a governor back in 2002 when she became a parent governor for her two daughters’ primary school. She then went back to being a governor for St Pius X Catholic Primary school in 2014 and is now the Vice Chair.  In January 2018 Clare joined Roxwell Primary as the Local Authority Governor and in the March of that year was asked by the then chair if she would take over.   As far as knowledge and skills are concerned Clare is an all-rounder having gained knowledge in safeguarding, finance, HR, SEND as well as the school curriculum. Education is Clare's passion and providing the best for the children of Roxwell is paramount to her.

 

Adam Love

Adam has been a parent governor for almost 2 years and has recently taken in the role of vice chair.  He lives and works locally. Over his professional career he has gained experience in safeguarding, risk and resource management, health and safety and managing teams. He is passionate about making the school the best it can be and driving it forward whilst ensuring it retains its unique individuality. 

 

Ian Gurman

Ian started his teaching career in 1980 then spent much of the next decade travelling, living and working abroad. He now has over 35 years’ experience in education, in the UK and overseas, having taught in Australia and Guatemala, where he became fluent in Spanish. From 1991 to 2008, he held middle and senior leadership roles in three London secondary schools, achieving the NPQH and serving a period as Acting Headteacher. Ian moved into school improvement work in 2008, working for Havering Local Authority, as well as a period for a national academy chain, in both the primary and secondary phases, and undergoing Ofsted inspector training. In 2017 he joined LIFE Trust, where is now Director of Education. In addition to providing training for many governing bodies, Ian served for eight years as a governor for an outstanding primary school and three years for a sixth form college. He joined Roxwell’s governing body in 2019.

 

Tom Odell

Tom has been a parent governor since February 2019 and has a daughter in Year 2 and a son starting in Reception.   Tom is a General Manager for a pub company, running a £1.5million business. He has had managerial experience for over 15 years, including people management, cash handling and business planning. He will be able to bring all these attributes to the governing body along with HR knowledge and disciplinary procedures.   Tom really enjoys being a part of the governing body and helping to develop and improve the school at such a crucial time. 

 

Suzanne Farris

Suzanne is an occupational therapist specialising in paediatrics, completing an MSc in paediatrics in 2002. She worked in the NHS and social care and in 2005 worked in NHS management, as a Director of Operations prior to leaving the NHS in 2011. Suzanne now works as an independent occupational therapist in medical legal work, mainly in obstetric clinical negligence.  

 

Reece Lake

Reece chaired the Resources Committee on Roxwell’s Governing Body for the last three years.  He has twelve years’ experience working in financial services, and brings practical knowledge of budget management, change implementation and operating models from his work across both major and new starter financial institutions, from Lloyds, Barclays and HSBC through to Metro Bank and Masthaven.

 

Reece has been a part of the Roxwell village community since moving here at the age of 11, and aspires for Roxwell Primary School to continue to be at the heart of a thriving community for years to come.

 

Jeremy Milligan

Jeremy has been a Governor at Roxwell Primary School since January 2019 and has extensive experience as a school governor and has served for over 15 years at another local primary school in Chelmsford where he is currently Chair of Governors.  Jeremy brings an understanding of the challenges facing schools in maintaining and improving standards, and is passionate about education and the importance of each child reaching their full potential. 

 

As governors it is our role to enable and support Roxwell Primary School in playing its part to the full helping your children be ‘the best that they can be’ in all aspects of their life.

 

Jeremy has worked in the Financial Services sector for over 30 years and has experience of sales, marketing, project management, change management and business analysis
