We were honored on Monday 5th July to welcome Mr. George Vale back to Roxwell CofE Primary School. Mr. Vale was celebrating his 90th birthday and as part of achieving this huge milestone Mr. Vale wanted to come back and visit his old school. Mr. Vale bought along with him his old school photo from 85 years ago and he told pupils that Roxwell was ‘The best school in the world!‘.
Our Head boy and girl made Mr. Vale and his family feel very welcome and gave him some Roxwell pens as a gift!

Mr Vale’s daughter, Ms Angela Vale, commented ‘Well, what can I say, the kindness of Mrs O’Regan and the delightful children at Roxwell C of E Primary School was the highlight of my lovely Dads 90th birthday. Having lived in Vale Cottage in The Street before his family moved to their Airey house in Stonehill Road next to the allotments (now replaced by the flats), Roxwell was the destination of choice when I asked him where he wanted to go for his birthday.’
Mr Vale finished off his day celebrating with his family with an afternoon tea at home following by a late pub lunch.
A huge thank you to the children for being brilliant and welcoming Mr Vale to, as he said, ‘the best school!’
